Library Day!
After work we went by the library to see if we could fortify our Dora and Blue's collections with something NEW. Alas, the other Mommies got there first. Emma got to play with the dinosaur. She was thrilled because she's been fascinated with dinosaurs lately.

Then we moved on to the "oggles." I tried many times to get that first "g" in there, but she resisted.

Then we went by the store to see Daddy. She's wearing a pair of the sunglasses in her preferred manner.

Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, VA
This card was never sent so it doesn't have a date stamp. I'm guessing the late 1920's. Maybe someone can make a better guess based on the cars in front of the building.

Mall Hair Day
I got my hair cut today. My hairdresser, bless her heart, gives me a wonderful cut. It's what comes after that amuses me. Today when she said "I'm just going to play a bit," I should have faked an emergency and left. She's so complimentary of my hair I hate to be a poor sport, but I always leave with "mall hair." Or hair from 1989. It's not awful, but it's not me. I tried to take a picture of it for you, but it kept coming out looking pretty good. I don't think I can convey with the pictures the full "mall-ness" of it. Here's my feeble attempt:

Oh, and I would never complain out loud because it only costs me $10 plus tip for the shampoo, cut and style.

My view today
It's been a while since I shared.

It's broken!
When Emma woke up from nap she started calling my name. When I came in the door she was upset. She was holding up her picture she colored and was crying "It's broken, it's broken!" She had insisted on taking this picture to bed with her. Apparently she laid her head on it and then drooled on it while asleep. She was upset because the orange scribble and her name were messed up. "Fix it, fix it!" she cried. I had to explain to her that I couldn't fix it and then distracted her so she'd forget it. However, I couldn't forget it because the drool also caused the colors to bleed onto her cheek. You can see the orange and purple in the photo.

More pictures from the weekend
My little photographer. Maybe for her third birthday I'll get her one of those digital cameras for kids.

My little dancer, loaded up with all her comfort items. Paci, Tigger, and Baby Jaguar. She isn't into fine distinctions like tiger stripes vs. jaguar spots.

Blah, and Netflix
It's that time of year again. Dying of boredom and lack of excitement. When the most interesting thing going on is sub-zero temperatures you know your life is lacking. We are getting most of our excitement from Netflix these days. Pathetic but true. What we've seen so far:

Little Miss Sunshine A heartwarming film featuring liberal family values. OK, lay off, I liked it.
Click Totally misleading advertising campaign for that one.
Talledega Nights Very, um, interesting. Pretty funny too.
Failure to Launch Terry Bradshaw's naked ass. Why, oh, why couldn't it have been Matthews?

I've got Ice Age: The Meltdown on tap for tonight. Arrived in the mail today...Thank You for Smoking and Hitch.
I caught the train alright
Another humorous card, mailed in 1909. See, Allie and Angie, people have been erroneously using the word "alright" for at least 100 years. Or maybe not???

"I'm Dora!"
Much to my chagrin Emma will announce this out of the blue. She tells Mary, me, and tonight she announced it to Noni and Popi. Except this time my jaw fell to the floor as she went around the room pointing to each of us, "You're Issa, you're Benny, you're Diego..."
Sunday post card
A pretty one to start your week. Mailed in 1909.

Noni and Popi visit
They came over and spent the afternoon with us. We enjoyed a nice meal together and then some serious play time. Here Emma's playing playdoh with the fellas.

They made her a box full of playdoh hotdogs.

She was busy trading little heart shaped buckets with Popi.

Popi gets his opportunity to "Fly me!"
