She's gone...sniff, sniff
Emma extended her vacation an extra week and went home with her cousins. She'll spend the week with them going to the pool and getting into other mischief. I know we're going to miss her terribly, but she left us with an excited smile on her face. I hope to get a few reports to share with you.
A giant pile of sand
For those of you who have never been there, Jockey's Ridge is a giant pile of sand found at Nag's Head, NC. I mentioned it briefly in one of my College Years posts. Uncle B. took some terrific pictures of his kids there. I wanted to share them with you.

A little bit of perspective, but not nearly enough.

Beijing Olympics
We're definitely watching. It's been on the television in the beach house every single night, and most mornings and afternoons. Uncle B commented that he was going to miss afternoon Olympics when he went back to work this week. Me too. Just like everyone else we've been transfixed as the swimming machine known as Michael Phelps collects his gold metals.
Theme of the week - More sleepyhead
Emma didn't want to even consider a nap. We had so much going on that M and I never pressed the point. However, if there was a lull in activities in the late afternoon Emma would inevitably fall asleep. Here she's sleeping in the car on the way back from Jockey's Ridge in Nag's Head, NC. She had a hard time waking up, even after we ordered the pizza at Angelo's Pizza in Buxton, NC.

Foot report
My foot is doing great. Three days before vacation things were looking grim. The rash all around it was pink and swollen and had blisters throughout. Popi suggested trying to soak it in epsom salts. Fortunately I had the capacity to do that at home that night. For three days in a row I soaked it and by the third day all the pink color was gone and the blisters were gone and I was healing. Now I still have lots of skin layers that haven't evened up, but there is no more raw skin. I may finally be healing. The sand can irritate it, but it's not really painful.

Thanks for asking.

Sleepyheads
Or...the days are just packed.
