She loves her beads
She's the one who puts all these on...

OK, don't get excited...
To repeat my husband's point, this illustrates how she will try to drink from anything and everything. In our house the primary use for beer is cooking. Tonight M. was fixing crablegs, which he beer boils. Notice the perfect product placement...

Hanukkah Dance
You've seen the Kwanzaa dance, now see the Hanukkah dance...

Is this more satisfactory?
Familiar location, different scenery.

The Days Are Just Packed!
A day in the life...we begin with a morning snack of no-hands Cheerios...

Since we don't have a sled Daddy took the wagon outside and pulled Emma around in the driveway where the snow had been plowed. It was actually pretty slick out there.

Posing for Mommy...

Daddy got the idea of standing her up on the snowy stump in the front yard for a posed shot. She wasn't having any of it...

Back inside, Velcro Baby. I offered to let M. take her back to work with him, since she was so attached to him...

Ornament of the Day
This one is for M. He's a fan of Rocky & Bullwinkle.

Do you see anyone you know? If not, it's not too late to be added to my gallery. Just let me know and I'll send you my address ;)

Turned down an invitation tonight...
It was last minute so I didn't have to feel to guilty about it. We were invited to bring Emma for some sledding and then enjoy a chili supper. It was a great opportunity. But I was totally unprepared. Emma has some bunting in storage which I have to find and wash first. Someone loaned us some cute LL Bean boots this week, so I had them. If I'd gotten the invitation yesterday I would have prepared, and looked forward to it. In this case I just wasn't prepared at all. sigh. I told her to please don't cross us off her list ;)
Daddy does bath
It's a pretty rare occurance. He'll do it if I'm not here or if I ask him. But I have to ask. I think he likes doing it, I guess he just thinks it's my thing...

Ornament of the Day
I received this glass ball from my aunt many years ago. I really like it and enjoy it every Christmas.

Decoration of the Day
Here are our stockings, hung by the bookcase with care...

The holders were given to us last year. When it's time to fill the stocking we actually spread them out and hang them by rope from the wall anchors at the back of the shelves. We don't trust the holders to hold the weight of the stockings.

Sunrise at Noni's
I forgot I had this picture. I took it Tuesday morning when we were getting ready to begin our day.

Quid Pro Quo
She stands still and lets me take her picture. I turn the camera around and show her the image of herself on the screen. This amuses her greatly.

Ornament of the Day
Yet another ornament commemorating Emma's first Christmas. We love our baby ;)

Decoration of the Day
I guess this couple is technically not Christmas. I've used them the whole winter before. But I pull them out this time of year. A gift from SIL.

Our busy day
I got up at 6:30 and headed straight for the shower. I was determined to get some shopping in before Emma's morning nap. Thank goodness for holiday doorbusters. Noni got to get Emma up and have some time with her before she went to work. And we were still able to make it to Kohl's around 8:00 a.m. I got some things for SIL, nephew, a shirt for me (woo hoo!) and a couple of rolls of wrapping paper. Sadly, my great little shopper is not so great anymore. Now that she's mobile she wants out of the stroller. If I capitulate and let her out I just end up chasing her the whole time and can't shop worth a damn. Sigh. I'm sad it couldn't last forever, her being such a great shopper.

I pushed my luck and popped into TJ Maxx before heading back to the house. I wanted more of the poinsettia Christmas cards like those a few of you have received. We went in right after they turned on the lights. lol

We still made it home by 9:30 and I scrambled her and egg for breakfast. Then she went down for nap. I played on the computer till she woke up

We went to visit Emma's great-grandmother at her senior apartment complex. We visited a little in her apartment and then Noni met us in a cafe downstairs for lunch. Emma was a major hit. All of the oldsters had to stop by and comment on her. About 20% complimented us on our little boy, despite the pink socks, flowers on the shirt and cute sweater. lol

Emma was just so purposeful striding around the place she was a magnet for attention. Fortunately it was all good attention. She behaved magnificently. Just as we were getting ready to leave for more shopping she started to get crabby again. We ended up going to Target, where I bought little gifts for the other kids at Emma's babysitter's. I also got the 20Q thingy that was recommended on the mommy board as a stocking stuffer for M. Shhhh, don't tell.

We hit TJ Maxx one more time for Noni's benefit and then headed back to the house in hopes Emma could catch a late afternoon nap. My only purchase the second time there was two lift-the-flap books. I've decided that the one's with the flaps glued on are basically disposable. I look for the ones where the pages are layer paperboard and the flaps are cut out. They last much longer.
Ornament of the Day
This is the Capitol Christmas ornament. I bought it for M. last year to commemorate the year that the Capitol Christmas Tree came from our county. It was a very big deal here with a huge ceremony at the fairgrounds to launch the tree on it's tour of the state before it went to DC.

Decoration of the Day
This is my card holder. Which doesn't actually hold the cards. It holds the envelopes. I usually tape the cards up on my closet door in the living room. I'll get a pic for you later. It was purchased from a local crafter.

Dancing in her seat
We met Noni and Popi at McDonalds for dinner before Popi headed off for a meeting and Noni and I headed for Costco. The Christmas music was playing pretty loud and Emma couldn't sit still, she had dancin' ants in her pants.

I'd hate for you to get the idea we go to McDonalds a lot. It's a fluke that we've been there a couple of times recently. Seriously.
Decoration of the Day
Today we are featuring the highlights of Noni and Popi's Christmas decorations. We'll begin with the one Noni wanted you to see the most...

Here is their outdoor inflatable thingy...

And here is a favorite from my youth...

Ornament of the Day
Today we're fudging it. Instead of an ornament, you get Noni and Popi's whole tree. Enjoy!

I have one of those now…
She stands at my feet, clutching my pants legs, looking up at me plaintively, begging to be picked up and held. So pitiful. And I’m the one she wants. Kinda cool.

What I should be when I grow up
Got this one from Jeanne's blog:
Not sure how this fits in with being President of a Bank...

Your Career Type: Social

You are helpful, friendly, and trustworthy.
Your talents lie in teaching, nursing, giving information, and solving social problems.

You would make an excellent:

Counselor - Dental Hygienist - Librarian
Nurse - Parole Officer - Personal Trainer
Physical Therapist - Social Worker - Teacher

The worst career options for your are realistic careers, like truck driver or farmer.
Ah...mountain living...
This morning I shoveled 280 sq. ft. of snow. 6-7 inches high. Just thought you should know that.
Spaghetti again
This time with sauce (since Jamie pointed out my omission last time ;) )

Ornament of the Day
This is a glass ornament from Germany. A gift from my brother and SIL.

Decoration of the Day
This hangs at my back door where most people enter the house. In the beginning he played music when you tripped his motion detector. That lasted less than one day. I pulled out the battery.

Dressed for dinner
Despite the falling snow we headed to town for the Homemaker's Dinner. The food was good. Emma ate prime rib and salmon and potatoes and most all of my brownie drizzled with raspberry sauce. She behaved wonderfully. She is so good when we take her out like that. People always compliment her. It makes me want to hug her and squeeze her and call her George.

The beads were her idea. When she was in her pack and play while I was putting on my coat she grabbed the beads that were in there and put them on. Who am I to argue?

She looks like she's having fun, doesn't she?

Ornament of the Day
Cross-stitch theme day. This is one I designed. I used my graph paper and planned it out and the stitched it. I had a lot of time on my hands in my teens ;)

Decoration of the Day
I made this cross-stitch tree as a Christmas gift for Bea Bea while I was in my teens. Now it's part of my collection.
