I'm not sure what this means...
...but I did it because my friends did it. I haven't done a meme in so long, it was time.

P. S. I'm pretty sure they missed the boat on that liberalism thing ;)
It's finally warm here
The worst we'll likely see it the mid-80's, but to us thick-blooded highlanders that feels pretty hot. It's nice to come home in the evening and cool off in the pool. It was definitely worth the effort. Emma's a big fan of it, too.

M's moonlight photo
I found this on the camera tonight. He hasn't even seen it yet. I think it's beautiful. As you can see, we're both enjoying the new camera.

Growth spurt
We usually measure Emma against her bedroom door growth chart once every three months. We measured her in mid-June and she was 37". She had grown an inch over the last three months. Pretty decent.

This past weekend one of the rides required that the kids be 38" or above. I started to explain to her apologetically that she wasn't tall enough for the ride. The ride dude looked at her and said, "I think she looks tall enough." So I told her to walk over to the measuring board and stand. It showed her at 38 1/2" tall. Wow. OK, go ahead and ride.

When we got home I took her upstairs and measured her against her door to see if that was right. Darned if it wasn't. She grew an inch in a half in 6-7 weeks.

No wonder she's been soaking up milk like a sponge.
John Deere is here!
Emma knows from tractors. She'll tell you what they are by what color they are. So when she saw that the John Deere was back as we were coming in the driveway this evening she got all excited. After supper she had Daddy take her to visit "her" John Deere.

This is the bossy face
It goes with the whining-wheedling-demanding voice. Dear Lord, I hope this is a phase.

Another lawn party...this time with the cousins
After spending the first full day with my new camera I've learned that "auto" just won't cut it for most things I want to do. I knew that, but I was trying to take baby steps. My actions shots from swimming in the morning and the rides in the evening all came out pretty blurry. That was a disappointment. So now I know I need to either set it for Basic Modes "sports" or learn how to set it manually for action shots.

The lawn party had lots of rides Emma could do. She had a really good time and loved it even more for having her cousins to ride with. We ended up leaving everyone early (8:45 p.m.) because we had a long drive home. We missed the fireworks but Emma got to watch a whole disc of Backyardigans on the drive home so I'm sure she didn't think she missed much.

Reunion
Uncle B was up for his 15th high school class reunion. This is the two of them getting ready to go out for the BBQ and DJ party.

Pool party
Insomuch as anywhere my family goes it's a party. Emma spent pretty much the entire time whining, bossing and demanding everyone do what she wanted. It wasn't pretty. Once she gets into one of those whiny moods it's almost impossible to pull her out. It gets on my last nerve, it does.

She commandeered Aunt K for a while...

She also practiced her jumps to Noni.

While it looks like Little M is jumping, she's actually being hurled through the air by her father.

J is trying to learn to dive. While her form needs work she's a pretty fearless little fish.

Unprecedented
She slept until 9:45 a.m. That is the latest she has ever slept in her life.
