Her first word
One thing that I haven't been very vocal about is that despite being ahead of the game with the walking and some of the motor skills, Emma had no words. There was no word that came out of her mouth signifying anything in particular. She would make a woof/grunting sound for the dogs, but it wasn't a word. So her first word is...balloon. Of course her version is more like one syllable. After her birthday party we left the balloons hanging in the kitchen. We have a grouping of three than hangs down over the kitchen table. She'll look up at those and stare and stare. Every time she'd look I'd also look and point and say "balloon." And then she said it. M. was even there to witness it. It was the first distinct word to come from her. Finally...whew!
